Facebook Cover Image Size for Timeline

Facebook Cover Image Size for Timeline
Graphic designers, terrible bands, and egomaniacs, the new Facebook Timeline cover image size is 851×315, unless google chrome is lying to me, which it might be, cause it loves and adores its little homey G+. So far I’m really digging the changes. if your image is less than 851, it will create a border on the sides, larger than 315 (as well as 851) it will give you the option to drag the image about. Large images very welcome.

Hi Robert,
Nice Timeline!
I created a photoshop template to help create my own Facebook Covers – would be great if you could give it a mention!

I’m just wondering how you determined the dimensions of the div for the cover image.
Did you look into the code or is there an easier way that I’m missing? Thanks!
This is Awesome, Brilliant Ideas…
I designed for my Own Profile With the Banner of My personal Website Page

I measured it.
Umm is it pixels or cm/mm? Cause’ im making my own on Photoshop :S
thanks so much! this is very useful!
Pixels!
Thanks for the info. Just made a very neat Cover on my Timeline.
I would like to say one thing though, it seems Facebook compress the image extensively, as it pixelated esp. when colour changes dramatically.
Is there a solution for that?
thanks so much .. wass very very usefulll..
I’ve seen some that say they are bigger, and scaled down without having to drag to the position you want. I think you’ll find that the aspect ration is approximately 16:12, so if you stick to that, it will automatically scale it.
Never mind, somehow I hit the 6 on the number pad and got 615 instead of 315. It’s 2.7:1 or 27:10 if you want whole numbers.
I measured it also, but got 850px by 312px.
i wonder if chrome grabbed the div outside containing it, will update accordingly, thanks!
